Hi!  Welcome to my website!  You'll find news about my latest young adult novels, a bit about my travels and speaking engagements, and of course, an introduction to my five intrepid cats.

Let's start with my books...here's the real scoop.  I'm working on two series at once, one set in Hollywood and one set in South Beach, Florida. How did I get so lucky, you may ask?  I just picked my two favorite states, California and Florida, and figured my readers would love those spots, too. All that golden sunshine and endless blue ocean and swaying tropical palms...what's not to like?

I have good news for my fans. Tales of a Hollywood Gossip Queen, the long awaited sequel to the best-selling Confessions of an Almost Movie Star, is on the shelves!  It's another Hollywood tale of glitz and glamour, with a lot of famous people and fabulous places you might recognize.

So many readers asked me for an update on Shane and Jessie that I just had to write this sequel!  As you can tell from the title, Jessie and Shane are together again -- and this time it's on his home turf, Tinseltown.  Suddenly Jessie isn't a small town girl, hoping for a movie role. She's an entertainment reporter for a hot new L.A. magazine called Juicy. She's interviewing celebrities and uncovering all their secrets as she mingles with the A-list crowd on the red carpet!

Also coming in November, 2006 is another exciting teen novel called Secrets of a South Beach Princess, set in South Beach, a really hot section of Miami. And there are more books and series coming up, but I can't give away all my secrets, can I? You'll just have to stay tuned...

Wishing you the best, and happy reading!

What's New

December 30: Okay, I admit it, I am thrilled to learn that I received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to study the link between psychology and creative writing.  I applied several months ago, and sent in 20 pages of Confessions of an Almost Movie Star as my "work sample." I explained that I'm a licensed clinical psychologist and that I've written 37 books for kids, both middle grade and young adult.  I'll be visiting some Indian reservations in the Southwest this summer, speaking to kids about keeping a journal, the importance of goal setting, and reading selections from my books. I plan on spending about a month in New Mexico with some time in Palm Desert and Hollywood. So, it's all good, as they say!

July 9: Armchair Interviews called Tales "perfect for summertime reading."
